Why Choose the Digital Humanities?

Digital Humanities is an interdisciplinary field that uses computational tools to explore human culture, history, art, and media—and to critically examine how digital systems shape what we know.

In the Digital Humanities Summer Minor or Certificate Program, we’ll show you how methods like data visualization, text analysis, mapping, and digital storytelling can help you explore big questions in totally new ways. We also treat today’s AI and algorithmic systems as part of the humanities landscape: we ask what these tools reveal, what they distort, and how to use them responsibly.

If you’re coming from the humanities, you’ll learn digital methods to analyze and present your research while maintaining interpretive rigor. If you’re coming from the sciences or tech, you’ll gain critical and cultural perspectives for working with human questions—especially when data, models, and AI outputs become part of the evidence. Come explore the possibilities with us.

Through our program, you'll:

  • Analyze Vast Textual Data: Quickly sift through extensive collections using advanced text analysis techniques.

  • Create Dynamic Visual Narratives: Present your research through compelling visual formats that captivate and inform.

  • Design Interactive Digital Projects: Develop projects on digital platforms that engage users and offer interactive experiences.
