Bio/CV:
Tom van Nuenen is a Lecturer in Digital Humanities and Curriculum Director at UC Berkeley’s Social Sciences Data Lab. His teaching and research explore the intersection of computational methods and cultural interpretation, with a focus on AI ethics, digital hermeneutics, and online discourse. He has led initiatives in data science for social justice, designed workshops on language bias in AI, and helped grow Berkeley’s Digital Humanities program through research, instruction, and community outreach. He has written two books on tourism in the digital age: Scripted Journeys (De Gruyter 2021) and Traveling Through Video Games (Routledge 2023).
